Early edging starts with the release
What to look for
Ted Ligety once said he starts the turn earlier and finishes it later than most other guys. That's the whole idea of modern carving in one sentence.
Early edging isn't about being quick or forceful between turns. It's the payoff of a proper release. If you want to carve above the fall line, you have to let the old turn go, climb the wall and then free fall into the new one.
Watch where the skis change edge in the clip: well before the fall line, while the body is still moving across them.
